About Me and How RockDoctor Works

Bouldering at the wall.

I have been an avid climber since 1995 and a qualified GP since 2004. I have always had an interest in sports medicine, especially related to climbing and mountaineering. I now live in sunny Yorkshire, England, and work full time in the NHS. However, I want to develop my passion for climbing related medicine and help people get better outcomes after injuries. We have some fantastic facilities locally for treatment of sports injuries but accessing them can be more problematic, as very few health professionals know about the specific injuries we, as climbers, encounter.

This is where this site comes in. Maybe advice and info on here will help you deal with the problem yourself- great if that works for you. Maybe you have a question or some advice I can help you with. But if you need more than this I am happy to advise on what treatment might be needed and I will assist you in accessing this from the NHS or private sources. This may require me seeing you to gain a full understanding of your injury and writing letters to relevant services. At present there is no charge for this service although if I get inundated I may need to charge in future!
